Am I the only one in the state NOT surprised she dropped out? She would've been primaried by a Trump/Musk candidate and there is at least one who's been here in Iowa the whole time, lining himself up in the wings for years, bragging about how "93 percent of the bills passed in Des Moines are bipartisan" (thank you Dems for giving him that little talking point). I find it hard to believe there wasn't sit-down with her and Jeff Kaufmann with him telling her, "Your time is over. You can go out the easy way or the hard way."

In obvious retrospect, the decision Reynolds made will not be as important than the decision Democrats will be making. If another Republican is elected as governor it will be a very long time until another Democrat resides at Terrace Hill. Dems need to leverage this critical opportunity. Thank you Laura for your insightful comments and reporting.
